At the Rainforest Fringe Festival, held in Kuching city, Borneo Bengkel presented People of the Land, a thematic exhibition featuring selected artworks from Pangrok Sulap collective, Sonia Luhong, Rico Leong and Catriona Maddocks.
The exhibition included wood cut prints, a papercut installation and pyrography (woodburning) artworks, and explored a myriad of themes including folklore and fables, endangered flora and fauna and disappearing cultural practices. People of the Land questioned how our indigenous narratives define people and place, and weave together landscape, spirituality, heritage and identity
The weekend programme also featured a number of workshop activities and a tamu art market selling artworks and merchandise of our collaborators.
